Suicide?

Are people who commit suicide brave to be able to take that step and hurt themselves or are they weak to have fled from the woes of life?

One thing I can say .. taking one's life is not cake walk.. it takes a hell lot of courage. But if they use their so called courage to take their lives, then facing the prolems they had, needed more courage.. which they couldn't collect!

you know it is a very good question.. and many people have said that suiciding is a cowardly act.

But if there is no choice at all and there is no way, then?
like take the case of a gal, wo is raped by her own father, and instead of getting any support from other family [mom] and society , she is shunned by one and all.. what does she do?

and if the gal doesn't even have education and no sense of real world? What does she do... flee away and land up in sme prostitute centre.. or stay at hme and be a victim again and again? OR just end the misery? what would you do in this case?

I know it is far fetched.. but I do think..it depepnds on the circumstances.

lov n cheerz

:( - a catch 22 here - if I try to answer your question by "practicing" - I will not be around....

i think it is a personal situation just like euthanasia.....

Well, It all depends on time and situation.....

very good qn.

I say they r brave. Cos we humans r designed to SURVIVE...to PROTECT ourselves first and foremost. If that's our nature, then suicide wud be going against our nature..so to go againt our nature is a very difficult and scary thing. Therefore, suicide takes alot of guts n strength.

@ Veens, you are right. A lot depends on circumstances. Nevertheless, I think that to hurt one's self so bad as to pass away must either take a lot of courage or a lot of pain and sorrow.

@ Ceedy, When you hear of someone having committed suicide, do you get angry or do you feel sorry?

@ KP, yes it does. But my question to Ceedy holds valid for you too.

@ Keshi, very well-put.

@ Lost Weasley, care to comment on what Veens said?

my answer might not resonate with many - but i am unmoved at seeing death...any kind

i beleive that everyone has a certain task to accomplish HERE - and when its done you have to exit it - and the method does not matter.

I know its a spiritual line of thought - and I dont share it with anyone - as again people feel that I am unemotional blah blah...

ah well...
if the girl has no sense of the real world she prob wont even know how to commit suicide...

life is never so bad that it cant get worse.

what appalls me is that people who are educated commit suicide "due to pressure"...
Your life is not your own...
people forget that they have certain responsibilities...there's almost always someone who cares even just an ounce about you... it would be very unfair to them, and your family, friends, neighbors, even mere passer-bys if you demonstrate such little faith in life.
Death might be an adventure when the time comes but its certainly not an option.

Both
I feel sorry that he couldnt fight his war...and angry too....he was Quitter.

As u know
Winners Never Quit and Quitters Never Win!

@ Ceedy, really? So you never experience sadness if a close person dies?

@ Lost weasly, I do not think that anyone who commits suicide is doing it for the adventure. And what if there truly is no one to care for that person? And what if even there is, they are not going to be there for them all through their hard life?

@ Divya, so you think about suicide?

@ KP, yup!

there are two ways according to different religions on the matter of death -
one is to mourn it

the other is to celebrate the life that was lived

i choose to follow the latter - yes definatly i am sad....but dont dwell into it long....

This is one topic I feel very very strongly about... I feel God decided when we came into this earth and it is upto him to decided when we should be off it.(But i am all for euthenasia)

I think ppl who commit suicide are the most weak n most selfish ppl on this earth...
Weak..coz they don have the courage to face situations Life throws at them...However s***y their life is..suicide is not a solution. How bad can it get?Nothing is unmanageable
Selfish..coz they are thinking only of themselves, not about so many others, to whom their lives matter so much and who will spend the rest of their lives with just memories of this person!

Solitaire said...

@ Pavi, and to you I pose the same question as Lost Weasley. What if that person has NO ONE in their life who will remember them or cry over them once they pass?

Pavi!!!! said...

No Sneha...that can't be. There is no person on this world who has ABSOLUTELY NO ONE who will remember them or cry for them once they are gone.

Yes, there are definetly moments in life when a person feels alone..but it is just that moment/phase...like u've said in another blog of urs "That too shall pass" .
It most definetly does not justify suicide.

To live or to die, both requires courage. At certain times of distress, its actually depends on which one weighs more.

Sometimes I feel instead of dying every day its is better to end one's life. Think of people who are at the critical stage of illness, people who have gone through irreversible circumstances...

Most of the times I feel "Suicide is a cowardly act" is popularised just to avoid people from doing so.

oh pavi put it in words better than me...

Well Suicide could be brave decision and could also be a weak one depending on the cirsumstances. But most of the time it is due to weakness rather than anything else.
Solving a problem could have 2 results. You could be right or wrong. Being right will always get u accolades and praises. And most humans love it. And being wrong can hurt u in n ways. When we are not sure of the result and when we fear of the result and the exam we choose a other way skipping the exam or the problem. Which always is a decision of a weaker individual. I am sure people will always have different analogies but this is mine.

They are of the belief that death is a better choice - nothing brave or weak in that I feel. Just a choice.
