Traditionally men are the bread-earners of the family so if a woman does the earning its good. If a man ignores his 'duty' its bad. its not a question of being a good father or something. Even the mothers who do work can be great mothers.
Hi Solitaire, Times are changing. Women are more empowered now than before. We see the spectacle of career women who earn for the family and their men taking care of the kids. That's better than the jobless men just drinking with their buddies. At least these men now know the hardship of house chores. Thanks for the practical post. God bless you and your family always.
Its simple....The other men are jealous that those men are relaxing at home(of course while taking care of theit kids and house work) and their wives are not that smart!!!
Really? Are the men who stay at home shunned by the other men?? Actually the bigger Q is.. Are there men who want to stay at home and take care of kids if they had a choice?
I feel in today's world over a 90% of both men and women would want to work outside of home and have a career for 2 reasons- 1. The individual's career aspirations 2. For earning more and thereby a better lifestyle!
I personally have a friend who came to the US as his wife's dependent on a H4, stayed at home for a year, taking care of their kid while he waited for his H1 and now both of them are working here. And mind u he gave up a job in Accenture in India, a pretty good IT company! n All of us on the project(over 70 people) were appreciating him for being such an understanding and practical guy/husband!
oh the whole men stay at home thing makes other men think that they dont work as harder. its pure jealousy, one guy is stuck in a stinkin 8-5 job, another guy can have all the peace of mind at home. Being a freelancer, I get this all the time...but heck...its personal choice na.
But Women go to office because they are good at what they do...men seldom think this way, its either you're ordering someone, or ur pushing ur job. COz basically, the male brain is not hardwired to do the best, but just 'to do' it. :D
@ Radhika, come back to see what the men have said!!!
@ Clouds, men who go out to work are supermen! And women who juggle cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, pleasing the in-laws, etc are called superwomen (or not). What an irony!
@ Mel, yes i agree. women are getting empowered but men still seem to like to exercise their power over the empowered women.
@ KP, Do you think that the women who are at home not working are relaxing?
@ Pavi, that is wonderful for your friend to do that! I had several men come visit us in a psychology class who are "homemakers" while their wives work and they talked about how difficult society made it for them to be so!
@ Ghost particle, haha!! Surely, an honest comment!

i would def not mind being the man to stay back and see my wife excel..
well yea its a strange cliche that the woman must stay and home and man earn the bread....
i guess old line of thought dies hard...
@ the keeper, If a man ignores his duty, he is just plain lazy, supposedly.
@ Keshi, always!
@ Srinivas, so likewise, according to you, women also do nothing at home?
@ Ceedy, :) Me too!
@ Radhika, come back to see what the men have said!!!

@ PG, its not about letting or seeing your wife excel. She can still do that even if you go to work. It is not a "sacrifice" that you would be making.
@ Vitruvian, very very true!! Some things never change.
If they can do what we stay-at-home women do, then it is good. Well maybe men are always sarcastic/jealous or something.. they are weird!
A man is born to work, A woman is born to cook :P
serve ur purpose, extra efforts are anyways appreciated :)
@ Veens, haha! This is a good outlet for you to call men weird, isnt it?
@ Divya, now whose words is that first sentence?
they are weird.. i did say that everywhere.. but then u give me a chance to say that all the time :)
i like that.. then men say that I can be a bitch.. but then I can be bitch abt their ways all the time!
:D
