I heard from someone that looking for a bride is like shopping in a vegetable market. The earlier you go, the more variety and the fresher the stock is.

Why make it a mountain when its only a molehill? Life is short. Let's keep it simple!

The earlier you go, the more inexperienced you are at looking for the right vegetable for you.
And getting married early just for its own sake is like buying fresh vegetables just bcs its morning.. u will bring them home, then not use them. They will rot and cause a stink, and u will deprive someone else of the wonderful taste. (c) ye original hai.
...some MCP must have said this!!
..I dun agree...Kids should never be sent for vegetable shoppin...they wud pick up the most appealing nd least nutritious vegetable..
damn does it make any sense??
i'd heard it was like buying a PC. the day you get one, the next day there's a better model available for lesser.
A study in Reader's Digest some years ago said married men live longer than unmarried ones. Vegetables are good for health
Granted, you can go earlier and get a "fresh" looking bride. But AFTER she becomes your bride, she is going to age, right? Assuming the marriage lasts, she will still be your bride.
X(fresh) ------time----> Y (not so fresh)
so essentially at point Y the result is the same irrespective of the fact you married at X or Y or somewhere in between
I heard from someone that looking for a bride is like shopping in a wine cellar. The later you go, the more aged, mature ,subtle, spicy, full bodied the stock is :)

i am a non vegeteraian.. i love it raw and flsehy
fresh means?...lol
in wat perspective they meant fresh :O..
urs..hemu..
Then maybe that person should go bride hunting in a labour ward to find the very fresh potential/ prospective brides
i disagree.... i stayed off the market for as long as I could... i still got married to the most beautiful girl in the world!
which area?which market?
sickos think like that , but sadly in india that might as well as be the case :x :( .if brides are vegetables what are grooms who those people sell in return for dowry ????
In one of your earlier posts "Anything?" you asked me why? why? why? what's the logic?
logic 1 : I wouldn't give up my job for someone who doesn't understand my dreams
logic 2:won't admit to it coz maybe i'm too shy
logic 3: there's no logic , coz sometimes u think u might be well of pretending that u don't need something which you don't have.
wont it still be sleeping if u go too early?
hemm...depends on which market u go to also. the carrots in ooty was really good.
dont go to supermarkets, the vegetables there are already handled by too many hands.
@ Apoo,
What if you go late with all the experience and the right vegetables are gone?
@ How do we know
Sahi originality. I guess its like people like to go first for the sale hoping that get to choose from a lot..they want VARIETY.
@ Prakhar,
So when is someone no longer a kid?
@ Rayshma,
Haha!! Then I guess its best to wait for the last!
@ Stupid,
Did it talk about when the vegetables were bought..does the timing of the purchase have any correlation with longevity?
sounds like something i would have said myself.
Isn't this more like "the early bird gets the worm"?
@ SS,
I guess the VARIETY also matters! And I guess they want the bride to look FRESH at the wedding..
@ Blue Kite,
My only comment is...
DOES ANYONE DO THAT?
@ Chriz,
**confused**
So you would go to a meat market for your bride?
@ Broca,
Go figure!
@ Hemu,
I dunno!! You got any hints?
@ SMM,
HAHAHAHAHAH!
@ Arjun,
AWWWW!!!
That was such a sweet sweet thing to say. I hope she read your comment. :)
@ Vishesh,
You interested in vegetable shopping?
go to
www.vegetableshaadi.com
@ I'll try to be,
COLD fridges for the vegetables to live and stay "fresh" in?
Haha!! The earlier you go? where?
I don't think there is a shortage of girls in here!!
Fresh? do they taste it?
Scandalous! Who is this someone and is he married yet? To a fresh fruit or a rotten vegetable?
Eeeks !!
Hum Shadi Karein Ya Rasoi ??
OMG! it sounds ridiculous but true. :/
@ Ria,
Awesome! What's on sale these days?
@ Am in Trance,
Apparently killing two birds with one stone.
@ Vagabond,
It was someone's UNCLE apparently!
@ Aneesh,
In here meaning in where? Do you think you would say the same at 35?
@ Nik,
Why am I not surprised that you would say that?
@ Ghost,
You crack me up!!!
HAHAHAHAH!
Carrots?! Good thing you didn't say cucumbers or oranges!
vegetables?
i nvr heard this one :O
Yup, my aunt says so. Best part is she includes at the end, do remember beta, we don't buy "ghardi dudhi" LOL!
Since we're on the topic, here's a joke:
A man did tapasya and God was very pleased. God said "maang maang beta jo chaahe..." beta said "make me live forever" God said "get married beta".
Well, is freshness n variety the only thing that matters?
Is it right if i want sour mangoes..n i pick up the sweet ones 'coz they are the only ones that are avlbl
or i pick up the fresh methi, w/o knowing how it tastes, wat to do with it or whether im allergic to it?!?!
@ Solt..
***My only comment is...
DOES ANYONE DO THAT?***
Well i am sure their are many, me for one..:)
while many buy posters colours to paint their life-the kite..few of us wait for the perfect rainbow..a rainbow which also wants to paint the kite.
My wine analogy was only a fun way to rhyme opposite to the original comment about comparing bride to vegetable..
Many may look/shop for a bride/stock/vegetable..but their are many fools who dont understand the concept of this trade..nor do they want to.. They wait...wait..till they find their rainbow..or the rainbow finds the kite ..
:)
Pata nahin yaar...
age ... i dun think matters that much ...its the maturity level...
u tello...wat do u think..
hahha... some dumb fool!!! :P
i m already over the age then!! :P
with this i wud say , vegetable finishes the day u cook it, spouse is not like that!!!
rather i think this sayin wud be better... wait for the right time to buy it like a tech product, coz the longer u wait, more the chances u will get a better one!!!
wait till the right time comes, life depends on it!!! :)
hey lady...is there a double meaning there :p
@ Ghost,
Why were you looking at CARROTS?
@ Ankur,
It does not matter what age you are as long as the bride (vegetable) is fresh.
Hope you find your techie gadget soon!
@ Prakhar,
So would you at 20 marry someone who is 40?
@ Blue,
Nice way of looking at it. Are they really fools? Maybe to the vegetable shoppers they are, right?
@ Pavi,
I guess these people have no idea of what they want to buy when they walk into the market and therefore prefer the variety they can pick and choose from. I don't know about the freshness though. Also don't know what they want to do with the freshness.
@ Kanan,
:)
Is this a gujju concept or what? This was told to me by a gujju guy and another gujju friend of mine also told me that her uncle says the same thing to her!!!
@ Abhishek,
Now you have! You are doomed!
Sneha, no idea whether it's Guj or not but I find it hilarious. On a serious note, at the end of the day, we as a person need to figure out what we want and when.
I've heard people (read single Indian men in US) make comments at parties like "Oh I'm gonna go to India and get married. Brides there are different" someone else like me probably asked "why is that?" and the answer was like "oh you get virgins there" I rolled my eyes laughing and wished good luck for guys that like! Moral of the story, some people have really screwed up ideas about this whole marriage business so every time I find some lame statement like this, I just laugh it out. Too sad they'll never understand this concept.
Whoever said that must be a vegetable vendor!
@Solitaire,
i'm guessing my MCP tendencies give that away fairly quickly. :)
The only difference though would be the "fresher" part ... kinda dis-agree on that.
hahahaha..really i dint know....the conversation will be something like this:
boy (customer): bolo bhai, tazza kya hai..
gal's dad (vendor): ek hai, 23 yrs ka...
boy: dene ka bhav bolo...
dad: kuch kam nahi hoga saab..
boy: roz ka grahak hoon,,,choti beti bhi dedo..
i can't prove it with the veg market example but i wud say ti's better if u go late as u wud fint much moe mature pertner for urself...and it applies to both males and females..
On the serious side, that's a rude comment from some frustrated guy.Imagine linking feminity with a commodity!Arghh!
---
On the lighter side, that's probably why many arranged marriages work in India- coz the parents do the shopping first.
Also, while doing veggie shopping,I've noticed-the best and the freshest is usually kept at the bottom of the baskets. So,people need a lot of patience to pick the good veggies n fruits!:):)
Yet again, the only resemblance I see is the sabzi-mandi kind of dowry system, with parents 'selling' their sons to the highest bidders(Dowry-givers)..arghh again!
@Solt..Let me be the devils advocate in this comment..
If you are young.lets assume an age group of 23-26...the partners are still at an age where they are still evolving at their own pace..their biological clock at its best phase..their hormones..playing out the best of the notes.the brain open to new experiences...its a good deal(is that the word i wanted to use ?)..the principles of life have not set in yet..so they are open..open to changes..open to experiments..open to learn and unlearn things they have been doing..and all that from each other...the egoes..have not taken birth yet...
Many of them get lucky in their mutual search..many dont..
Now the donts..both men and women .lets say an age group of 27++ .in their wait for the perfect complimentary mate..have developed themselves individually in the meanwhile..have set principles..have learnt from their individual experiences with life, have developed individula tastes, likes and dislikes for varied things..
Now lets assume that two of the not so "fresh stock" atlast find each other..the chemistry can be very volatile..either they combine eachothers acquired traits and give birth to something very magical....or if the principles have become very rigid..the egoes tougher..they collide..and explode..
so if u have found yr mate early in the life..u have a better chnace of nurturing it...
if not..keep the child inside you alive..and hope that the other has too...
Kafi bharo ho gaya ....:)
i only saw carrots, they said its the best in world, nothing comes as good as ooty carrot. huh! :D
now again this reminds me of another south park episode LOl.
I wud like u to define "freshness" for me!!!
I hope it was a sarcastic remark, coz i dont think i know this Sneha otherwise!! :)
to use it for someone i may love can be an insult, life is far above than a fruit, it has cycles, so may be if one cycle is complete, there comes another, the only point to be agreed is that it can be dangerous to have multiple cycles going together... and thats what the freshness i hope u r talkin abt, to be in a cycle... afresh!!! :)
Cheers!!
wait...watermelons iz what i should have looked at? :D
any hints...no ways i dont have hints thats y asking u :P..
urs..hemu..
Was this said by some sabji-vaala btw? :p
I can link this to your other post on psychobabble! There are many times things done in the inexperienced age which you would want to undo.
So a more thought out and mature decision is better then just trying to get the frest'est' stock
The younger the veges the fresher they may be...but they mebbe bitter/sour/unripe and cause heavy idigestion!
Keshi.
I probably will not...but I don't think its wrong...if love is there...commitment is there...nd if you are ready to spend the rest of your life with the person..
Tussi bolo bhi...what you think abt this...m waitin!!
@ Kanan,
I don't understand what is the big deal about marrying a virgin! And that is such a hypocritical statement. Men can do as they please but women need to be virgins! Anyway, their virgin wife will be a virgin only once!
*rolling eyes*
@ D,
Hahah! What a way to promote his market!
@ Nik,
Haha! You bet!
@ Nirmal,
ROJA movie jaisa scene lag raha hai..just a bit cruder.
@ Priya,
But what is late? My 27 year old friends are being called TOO OLD!
@ Amit,
Looks like kaafi veggie shopping ki hai aapne!
forget about baasi vegetable... what if you get picket by a vendor who wants pav bhaji... thats even worse... not good at all...
i hate this anology... i think we talked about it too...
i feel like be thapad maru eva loko ne !
@ Blue Kite,
***If you are young.lets assume an age group of 23-26...the partners are still at an age where they are still evolving at their own pace..their biological clock at its best phase..their hormones..playing out the best of the notes.the brain open to new experiences...its a good deal(is that the word i wanted to use ?)..the principles of life have not set in yet..so they are open..open to changes..open to experiments..open to learn and unlearn things they have been doing..and all that from each other...the egoes..have not taken birth yet...
Do you really think that all this has not happened at 23 yet?????? I think most people are pretty sure of what they want in their teens even though that may evolve continuously until they die!
***Now lets assume that two of the not so "fresh stock" atlast find each other..the chemistry can be very volatile..either they combine eachothers acquired traits and give birth to something very magical....or if the principles have become very rigid..the egoes tougher..they collide..and explode..
I think that if only people stopped carrying that mentality that the early bird catches the worm, then all age groups would have equal variety in choosing their partner as opposed to a fewer partners to choose from in the second age group that you have talked about.
@ ankur,
Indeed it was sarcastic!
***to use it for someone i may love can be an insult.
I guess when you go shopping in a market, you still havent started loving the product that you are yet to buy.
@ Ghost,
I dunno! Do those intrigue you?
@ Hemu,
I guess they mean fresh, taaza, unused maal.
@ Crystal,
I dunno!! Shayad black market ho sakta hai.
@ Mamta,
Fresh stock jama nahi toh phek dene ka and koi aur market mein chala jaane ka.
@ Keshi,
I guess not many people think long term!
@ Prakhar,
If u don't think its wrong, then why would you not?
I said probably not..coz I think for there can be compatibility issues with 40 year old!...which is also possible with two 25ers...but probably more between 20-40...gettin more analytical I guess
but..love..how can it be wrong?
*I guess not many people think long term!
Indigestion dont take long to happen haha!
Keshi.
I guess if u really love someone, age dun matter...but the majority of the world dun fall in Love..they just Lust.
Keshi.
Puhhhleease!!!!
instead of looking at it from that perspective we could also think so say that once an individual is past a certain age, he/she has a very strong identity established and would easily want to blend in with someone else's identity. This might be someone's point of suggesting about getting married early! Wat say?
Umm that one did not say anything. But now that you memtion it, another one said baby corn, baby broccoli etc have more anti cancer anti ageing substamces than older ones. lol this analogy can be stretched too much I think.
But I think the quote you mentioned (or the person who said it) is confused himself.
'The earlier you go' sounds like 'younger the groom is'.
Obviously its true that younger the groom the younger bride he will likely get. So whats being sais is very right. The way its said ('vegetables') is not.
But then fat old men with fat balances too may end up with fresh stock.
And considering the popular notion that big fat moneyed men usually earned it the wrong way, we can say a theif will get to steal the freshest vegetable straight from the vegetable garden, even when its very late in the night and markets are closed ;)
well, why not? I'm the same even if I'm 90 and I'm aware of my age at any time and will only look for gals accordingly... why should everyone look for sweet 17 ????
:)
well that seems to be the case for men and women now...
maybe, but the same applies to the grooms too.
GOD, i don't know how people come up with such silly phrases!!!!!
*most innocent look*-of course, I've done a lot of veggie shopping-but,of the real type only,i.e. for onions and potatoes and the like.ROFL!:)
i not at all think that choosing a spouse is like going in the market and searching for one!!!
We cant compare it...
lol. I wonder if that is true?
My uncle says the same too.. Some how i dont buy that concept.
hey I reely don't think 27 is old..well ma mum married wen she was around 27..tats pretty young..u see!!
wen career is all set i think tats the tym to marry..
@ Known,
You don't buy the concept. Will you buy the vegetable though?
@ Tairebabs,
How will we know?
@ Ankur,
But surely you know the term "marriage market"?
@ amitL,
Which one do you like the most? Maybe it will give me an insight into the kind of bride you would like to be with.
@ Satish,
Apparently grooms remain fresh for a long long time!
@ Enigma,
A 30 year old friend of mine went to India and got married to a 23 year old girl. I think he got a fresh vegetable. What about her?
@ Aneesh,
Do people really look for sweet 17?
One of my 29 year old friends is getting married to a 21 year old this December. I guess he got lucky, eh?
your qn was will I say the same if I am 35?
***One of my 29 year old friends is getting married to a 21 year old this December. I guess he got lucky, eh?
I don't know. it's personal preference, right? some likes girls who are too much younger than them. some don't... some put a range.. some don't... simple.
:)
ahh
kisne kaha aisa naam bata uska...
LOL-Sol,how can u judge from a liking of onions and potatoes??ROFL..
Damn..
who said this.. :)
