Compliment?

Most of you do not like to be lied to. And do not like hypocrites or their hypocrisy. Would you like to receive a compliment that is genuine or a compliment given out of politeness?

I hate receiving compliments.

A compliment is a compliment. I like them all. Of course, from a friend, I expect honesty at all times. From others, politeness.

Well I love compliments!!
So if you, give me compliments
-that are genuine
-that are aimed at pepping me up on a verr sad/bad day

then its fine!

other than that no thank u!

btw, my compliments are all genuine and straight from my heart.. Just that you know :)

why do i feel this is a mental experiment on us...hmmm....this isnt ur assignment topic is it?

genuine compliments comes once a year....politeness comes when someone needs help or money.

like 'em all. except of course the obviously false ones (ooh..you sing so well...when I can't sing to save my life!) those make me wonder why they are saying what they are saying, are they nuts?

Genuine compliment is what I would always prefer.

A genuine one... is definitely more appreciated.., the out of politeness usually come from those people you know ... that they are saying it... to either be on your good books.... or just want themselves want to look good (in front of others). Its more of expression by the mask and not a real face... so for those types....

No Thanks !

a honest compliment pleases me all the way and builds up morale.
a compliment delivered out of politeness makes me feel that am not worthy enough to receive any accolades and the person who gave this just wanted to impress me with his/her behaviour

Genuine ofcourse :)

@ Deepali, none at all? Why?

@ the keeper, realistic expectations!

@ Veens, a polite compliment can be used to pep you up. Chalega?

@ Ghost particle, not all polite complimenters want money or help!

@ Ceedy, it does not matter in a big way but its good to know how much people appreciate compliments (or not).

@ Aneri, so you dont like the verrrry polite ones..just the nominally polite and genuine ones.

@ Cosmic, :)

@ Neeku, well said..basically, they are the kinds who pull down your pants and kiss the butt.

@ Iceman, why?

Everyone likes genuine compliments. In some cases, I wouldn't mind the fake ones either,,, I would just fire a fake one back ;).

Anyday genuine. No kick otherwise.

oh no...EVEN YOU can predict me???

Gosh...I'm so predictable and boring! :-((

if i find out its a fake compliment, i'd still like recieving only it won't make fly :P

I wouldn't say not at all. I mean once you got a compliment you got it. I would just prefer not getting any. Lot of reasons but mainly because it goes to my head very fast - which people don't think so but I know how difficult I find it to stay 'grounded'.

yeah why not :) then depending upon the occasion or context may be we can choose to ignore or take on :)

Well. Sometimes in office i bargain for written compliments.. and later encash it during appraisals :-)

Personally i love compliments and advises/ criticisms/ feedback when given in person.. means in the absence of a third person whoever that is..

Otherwise i take it as an insult ..

Cheers
