Momma's Boy

Why is it good to be a Daddy's girl but bad to be a Momma's boy?

Not good to be a daddy's girl too.I'd pity the man who marries such a girl!

hahahhahahahha...
LOL....

gals are always sweet no matter.... who they belong to;-))))

Who says its bad to be momma's boy?? I am, and so is every other guy! Reminds me of: "Even bad men love their mommas" - Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) in 3:10 to Yuma

Sandhya said...

Girls r always best dear:-)

Solitaire said...

@ PS, haha! True but a lot is said about Momma's boys than Daddy's girls.

@ Chakoli, haaa..let's see what the husbands have to say about it.

@ Ashish, haha!! You have never heard about the negative connotations? And we can't really generalize that all men are momma's boys!

No intelligent male will date or tolerate a daddy's girl. My first husband was a mamma's boy-- 'nuff said. There was no shame in divorcing him. His mother was still clipping his toenails when he left the Army.

AmitL said...

It's good to be a Daddy's girl,coz-well,it's just good(I say this diplomatically).Any explanation I give will have the Momma's up in arms!!

It's bad to be a Momma's boy because It spells trouble for the wife!Imagine Momma wanting to ensure that the son's has brushed his teeth, eaten his lunch correctly, is not losing weight, etc? Makes the wife out to be some sort of witch!!(Sometimes true??hehehehee)

ha ha solitaire....look u proved it again..
short and sweet- a revolt against men..lols..
well the ans for this is:
according to u (gals):
every sweet and chirpy gals are termed as daddy's gal and every boy who give some time to thier family other than his gal r termed as mommas boy....
hence proved that...
its good to be daddys gal and bad to be mommas boy.....
but i real sense both r cool...

Keshi said...

good one.

well I guess its cos men r suppoed to make decisions on their own rather than clinging on to mum's sari. momma's boys irritate me cos they seem to want to ask everything from their mums. *rolling eyes*

whereas a girl's love for her dad doesnt quite necessarly end up in making decisions with him all the time...its a sweet father-daughter love. not a mother-son life contract. LOL!

Keshi.

Solitaire said...

@ Sandhya, I would like to say that you are right, but you seem biased. Am not complaining!

@ Tea, are you serious? I know of some momma's who call their sons everyday after marriage to ask what they ate for lunch and dinner and if they need anything to be sent to them. And then I know some grown-up men who cannot start their day without talking on the phone to their moms!

Solitaire said...

@ AmitL, in this case of your example, seems to be like the mom is a witch trying to cast all her spells on her son so that his wife does not steal him away from her!!

@ Nirmal, nope. This is called paranoia. Its a mere question. You can choose to disagree too, if you wish which you did. And hey, I did not know that all daddy's girls are sweet and chirpy!? What is the connection?

Nirmal's Blog said...

well the gals who love pink...dolls ..soft toys .....talks a lot ...cute...r sweet and chirpy...
as all the above goes with most of the gals... they term above types as pops gals..(take it as a paranoid statement)..lols..

Solitaire said...

@ Nirmal, really? I still do not see the connection between all that and being a daddy's girl.

*bewildered look*

And nope, that was not a "paranoid" statement. It was quite a stereotypical statement.

Chakoli said...

husbands....LOL....

they have to agree to it:PPP

Pushpa said...

Its not...

says who?

Nirmal's Blog said...

*hitting his collegues head*

above reaction coz i cant hurt myself right...

solitaire beta wat i meant to say was all the gals (who do things i have stated in my last comment) thinks that they are cool...hence they term themselves as daddys gal...
which is cool to be according to gals (u)..
theres no relation but they are best...plz read sandhyas comment for confirmation..lols

Solitaire said...

@ Nirmal, what has thinking that one is cool got to do with being a Daddy's girl???? I am super cool even though I never liked pink and I am NOT a daddy's girl! Go hit your colleague again!

@ Keshi, Oedipus complexes unresolved eh?

Solitaire said...

@ Chakoli, husbands might..but have you seen some bachelors here? :p

@ Pushpa, eh? Question says why? Not yes or no. Care to elaborate? Thanks for stopping by!

@ Iceman, google.

Nirmal's Blog said...

cant hit him again......
we are not talking bout u or me..we taking it as general....
i told this keeping in mind the revolt...
but reading comments i get a feel i m wrong.....
so silence from here..
i m wrong but i m not hitting me...

Solitaire said...

@ Nirmal, I am part of the population too. As for the revolt, an idle mind is a devil's workshop.

Nirmal's Blog said...

after some tedious research i got a sensible ans now...
its good to be a daddys gal coz after marriage dad nevr accompanies thier daughter (which is good) but mother of the boy does..which is bad....

Nirmal's Blog said...

definately u r a part of population but u r not a crowd...

Solitaire said...

@ Nirmal, a crowd is never used for research purposes but populations and samples are! Thanks for your research. WOW! I never knew that Short and Sweet would induce people to do research setting aside their busy lives. hahahah! I love the answer you came up with. Makes sense, doesn't it?

Satish Bolla said...

first tell me one thing. who the hell said so?

PREETI said...

oohh...nice one! n u knw, i never thought of it before now!

it is true...daddy's girl is way better than a momma's boy...i guess id agree with keshi that itz cuz the man is expected to be independant n make his decisionz n nt have his life told by his mother..!

whereas a girl dotes on her dad but keepz her expectationz aside when it comez to 'her man'...

hmmm...*still thinkin*

Chakoli said...

For bachelors I have a soln.....

wait for sometime until they get marry...;-)))

gunj said...

coz daddy's girl can b an equally lovin wife but a mamma's boy can neva b a good husband!!
i guess so!

Alok said...

Who said that?!

My parents are Gods. My Mom's a Goddess. So is it bad to worship your Gods?

This is just like saying believing in Jesus is good and believing in Krishna is bad.

I find the boys a but questionable though. :|

Hiren said...

reminded me of lyrics of some song "Pappa ki pari hoon main" ...

i dont think any guy would want to become Momma's Boy in the sense that this phrase is (mis)used ...

and daddy's girl ... no comments on that ... all bros would have been at the receiving end of this with their sisters (specially younger) getting favoured every single time :) ...

SambY said...

well its cause its a male dominated society... daddy gal is gud cause here a female is depending on a man... and mommas boy is bad cause the male sahab is depending on the female... for the society its ok for the female to be dependant, but for a male to expose his weakness n embrace dependance is not accepted... thts why daddy's gals can stay at home but momma boy has to go out n wrk... some its a idiotic sexeist mentality... hidden behind these cute terms "daays n mmamma gal n boys" ... ...this is what i think.. maybe i think too much..but i guess this is what it is

SambY said...

did u get my comment... it zilched at the time of posting...?? ill write it again anyway... i have spraind ankle nothig better to do...

SambY said...

lett us look beyond the cute wrds... its a male dominatexd society.... it does not like when males are dependant on the female.. as it give the female a more superior position... and they absolutely love it when the females dependant on them... daddys gals are dependent on their daddys... thts is vwery much accpetable..while mommas boys are are not..cause they are dependant on mothers...read females...

Pavi!!!! said...

I thot sumthing but once i read other's comments i got confused...
"Daddy's Girl" & "Momma's Boy" define maadi pls...

clipping toenails & daily phonecalls..now thats weird for the girl or boy!

n watever be the defn ..me n hubby are neither of that. I'm momma's girl (of course i love my pa too, but closer to mom) and vinod is closer to his dad. But daily calls n reports on lunch n b'fast??NOWEZ!

elusive said...

A daddy's girl never runs to her dad for the smallest of issues. Coz I guess parents/dads try n make their girl child a independent person as they know she's gonna have to be on her own someday, shes gonna have to go to her "own home" someday. In case of a guy it's like ok mum we're gonna be together all our lives, so I needn;t take my own decisions.

Jeevan said...

I am proud to be Momma's boy!

d SINNER!!! said...

I was my dads boy, i m my moms boy n for my sis n bro...m a grl...

cnfused...oh yea!!!

rayshma said...

i don't like either if it means relying too heavily on daddy or mommy!
i'm a daddy's gurl. but i have a mind of my own. i was/am pampered heavily by dad. but i don't have to consult with my dad before any decision i take. but yeah, i know even if mom opposes it, dad will convince her!
a momma's boy, from what i've heard *which neither bro nor hubby are* depends heavily on her for everything. and THAT, i guess is a pain...

vEENs said...

i m a Momma's girl..all the way :)

Momma's boys...hunt for girls who r like there moma's.. and thats bad [ girls do that too.. but they adjust...seeing hw there mom's adjust :))]

jus one of the reasons.

Solitaire said...

@ Divya, good or bad?

@ Satish, google search did.

@ Preeti, that's a great answer. Makes total sense.

@ Chakoli, no wonder a lot of them are commitment phobic.

Solitaire said...

@ Gunj, oh..let's see what the mamma's boys have to say about that. Already some men are pretty pissed at the question.

@ Alok, huh!? Don't quite get the analogy. BTW, I did NOT say that.

@ confounded, hahah!! Now you are going to egg some guys on.

Ghost Particle said...

coz its the daddy's gals who made the momma's boys sound so bad. we are good kind people u know.

Solitaire said...

@ hiren, reallly? There are so many men here who have proudly proclaimed that they are mamma's boys!

@ Samby, awww you sprained your ankle. How did that happen? Hope you are a bit better now. Anyway, try saying "this is a male-dominated society" and some men will flare up. That's what happened when I wrote a post on Women's Day!

Solitaire said...

@ Pavi, no need to define. Just go with your thoughts. Everyone has different viewpoints and yours is welcome too. Maybe it out of the box! Trust me there are girls out there who are married and absolutely have to talk to their dad everyday. Same for men who have to talk to their mom everyday...international call!

Solitaire said...

@ Elusive, hmmmm...very sensible answer!! Some men here are taking it very defensively, though.

@ Jeevan, good for you then!

@ D sinner, and what are you for yourself? Basically, you are daddy's boy and a momma's boy but genetically a girl. Interesting.

Solitaire said...

@ Rayshma, nice to get a perspective from a "daddy's girl" by definition. Sounds like everyone has the same idea about why being a momma's boy is not good.

@ Veens, oh yeah. I know of friends who have wanted food cooked only the way their mom has been cooking all their lives so the poor wife has to learn all those recipes and unlearn what she used to cook and also change her tastes for the "momma's boy".

Solitaire said...

@ Ghost, you need some training in this aspect too, i see.

c e e d y said...

your short and sweet is really long and tedious - looking at some guftagoos here....

it all depends on an individual if he/she gets that parental relationship in between his/her own both can be cause of concern and dissent

Ashish said...

Nothing to generalize here, its a fact. And trust me no guy will deny hat i said, try it! Better have a poll here as well ;)

Solitaire said...

@ Ceedy, haha! Some of them do turn into Long and Bitter.

@ Ashish, Aye Aye Captain. Go vote!

plz define mommas boy...i m confused....
it will help me to take the poll...

Solitaire said...

@ Nirmal, I am no definer. Whatever the societal definition is..

@ Compassion, let's see. There is a poll going on too. We will see what the results are.

@ Ghost particle, on how not to boast about being a mama's boy in the presence of other women if you want to get hooked.

Chakoli said...

not many...all a commitment phobic;-))

Nirmal's Blog said...

ok from society(comments) i hear that mammas boy are the followings:
--> they love mammas food
--> they hate thier wifes
--> they depend on female (mamma)
-->they search 4 wife that resembles mamma.
blah blah blah..
is it right..

Solitaire said...

@ Nirmal, We all love our mom's food. And I dont think anyone HATES their wife!

From all the comments above, I think a momma's boy is one who depends on his mother for every decision, is unable to be independent, compares his wife to his mother...etc.

Nirmal's Blog said...

ok now this gives a clear picture....
i m not a definer......blah blah...

gals naa i tell u ...

*hits his colleague*

a new philosopher is born said...

thats a great one liner....

Ashish said...

I absolutely disagree with u solitaire, mamma's boy is one who gives respect enough to ask his mom while taking certain(not all) decision(just asks..doesnot depend), but people fail to understand he does same with his father as well. In that case he must be Daddy's boy too! And in case of wife, let me ask you one question, suppose in future you become a mom(amen), your son marries a beautiful girl(amen), and finally one day he compares you with his wife over a fight with you(not amen) what would you want him to be then?? A mamma's boy?

Sweetstickychewy said...

bad to be a mommmy's boy cause i am not looking forward to have a war with my mother in law. I want her to be secure that i ain't gonna steal her boy and turn him against her.

yeah..

Sam said...

read all teh comments..a dn now i'm confused!!
how do u define: momma's boy and daddy's girl??
the defn can't different in both cases can it be???
if it does and den the defns are wrong!!
secondly... if ones is bad.. the other is bad too!!
and extremes of anything good is a disaster IMO!!

brocasarea said...

boys will be boys no matter if they are mammas or pappas!!!

I am mommas boy...:).

@Nirmal : LOL!i honestly feel sorry for the colleague whoz sitting next to u. Pls do convey my sympathies :))

This thing abt hitting the colleague cracks me up :))))))

AmitL said...

Nah,what I mean is,she makes the wife out to be some kind of bad witch(which is a good witch,if you look at it that way)who doesn't take care of her son.So, Sonny boy keeps getting drawn more and more away from his wifey.

rayshma said...

was just reading all the comments here. u're very patient, gurl. :0)

Solitaire said...

@ Ashish, disagree with what Ashish? What did I say? BTW, the person you described is not a Mamma's boy. For Mamma's boy, only Mamma is important. Pappa, sister, dada, bhanja all are secondary. Secondly, I am sure I will NOT have a boy. I DO NOT want a boy. And if I do, I have made arrangements with other friends who want boys. :p
Please do not ask me why.

Ashish said...

But this is what the perception of today is! anyways, poll speaks for it! Chill...did i offend you with Child Boy thing.. mea culpa :D..and now that you so dont want it to be, think of Mr Murphy

@ Ashish, no..never wanted a boy and will not keep the one I have if God wants to play such funny games with me. Simple!

@ Ghost, yes you are! But you always knew that, didnt you?

@ Nirmal, go hit him for me too for being such an idiot.
